The
high frequency cold fluorescent lighting system used on the GUARDIAN
has been designed to be applicable for both digital and microfilm
capture (Microfilm cameras can be fitted with an automatic exposure
system) .
Even
though the daylight colour balanced lights emit very low heat they
are equipped with shutters to protect the book between captures while
maintaining stable lighting conditions. The light arms are adjustable
to allow for the illumination of deep book valleys. The flicker
free diffused lights are operator friendly for long filming tasks.
Also
available are UV fluorescent light units for the capture, using
digital techniques, of 'hidden' information from manuscripts.
A
similarly constructed tungsten range of lighting is also available
on request.
