ICAM supply a range of digital camera units to suit the very
demanding standards required for the true full colour capture
of documents. We have learnt from experience that digital
camera specifications can be, and often are, confusing.
Our policy has always been to test the cameras in operation
and not rely on claimed performance. We have ascertained
that at present the best cameras for use in archives are
            from and Betterlight.
We have designed mounts for the GUARDIAN and the CONGRESS cameras.
In keeping with our policy, the digital cameras can also be retrofitted to existing camera bases by the addition of a mount and high frequency cold fluorescent lighting.
The maximum size of the original document and/or the speed and file size determine the appropriate camera and base. The modular GUARDIAN can be designed to meet most requirements and the ATLAS has been used for the capture of Tithe maps up to 4 Mtrs.

Icam supply the Phase One range of digital cameras. Models are available from a capture speed of one frame every 1.5 seconds to a resolution of 10,500 x 12,600 pixels. Maximum uninterpolated file sizes are from 32 to 380MB. Speed ratings (ISO) are from 50 to 1600. A 48 bit internal data path coupled with a 14 bit A/D converter gives perfect colour fidelity. Software supplied includes calibration and capture with output direct to image editing software such as Adobe Photoshop if required. Colour management is carried out pre-production with colour correction to monitor and output printer. Multiple platform (Windows 98/ME/2000/NT/XP and MAC) operating system is standard.

Zeiss optics with interchangeable lenses ensure the optimum capture of the widest range of material, from large maps, to small photographic negatives. The digital camera unit is easily removable for use, for example, with a tripod to capture an even wider range of subjects! A dual (microfilm and digital) tandem head is available.

There is a guaranteed upgrade path, together with extended warranties, for complete purchase protection and freedom from technical obsolescence.
